Germany – France – Switzerland – UK - Home

I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since I got back!  Time flies when you’ve got a beautiful beach to look at, Friends to hang with, and jet lag to deal with!

So wow, I almost don’t know where to start…  Last time I sent an update I sprung the idea on you that I was heading to EU to do a tour.  It was meant to be for 2 months, but I was having such a good time, and kept getting offered new gigs in new places, so I decided to extend it, and in the end I stayed for 4 months and did shows across 4 countries.

I know I posted heaps of things like photos and little stories from the gigs, so there’s no point repeating that stuff here, but what I would like to say is this… 

It was such an enormous pleasure and privilege to get the chance to do this tour.  I worked with some seriously good musicians (from Germany and England) who were a joy to work with and who helped me endlessly with any difficulties I was having organising concerts over there.  And the crowds were just spectacular!  Thank you to everyone who came along to a gig or who sent friends.  Your support is the most important thing EVER!

Here are some lessons I learnt:

• ·      Sometimes, smaller gigs are better – rural towns can rock!
• ·     When driving to concerts, leave 1hr earlier than planned, just in case you come across a violent electrical storm that would hypothetically make you miss your gig
• ·     Different crowds show appreciation in different ways - some throw underwear, some dance, some stay despite the rain, some sing along, and some force you to drink schnapps with them after the show
• ·     No matter how much you believe you have under-packed, you have always over-packed.
• ·      Watching the world cup with 50 enthusiastic German football fans is not a good idea when it’s Germany Vs Australia
